7 Ways You Can Improve Your Farcry Map Making Skills

In farcry one of the best features has to be the ability to create maps from scratch. You can mould the land into ant shape any form, you basically take on the role of god. But ask yourself this question, have you ever made a map that you are truly proud of? If so then you probably won't need any tips but for those who haven't been able to create a professional looking map yet, here is some tips that might help.

  • Set a goal in mind
You need to decide what your map is going to be about, is it going to be a huge map with lots of vehicles or is it going to be a small sandbox map where using close quarters weapons is the main form of playing. You can even make the map revolving around one central piece of the map, I built a map based around a huge bridge I built and a river underneath it

  • Don't overcomplicate things
Make things simple, only use what is needed for your map to work because adding too much stuff will look overly cluttered and unprofessional.

  • Your map doesn't have to be original
Look at good maps and take elements from them, this will help you to decide what works and what doesn't and doing this will allow you to get good at map making and later on make original ideas.

  • Ask people what they like in a map
Include elements of what other people like to see in a map, this way you increase your chances of coming up with something that is brilliant.

  • Make it clean
Make sure there is no random holes that people can fall down and get stuck in, otherwise people would get annoyed with playing on your map.

  • keep testing it
Test your map with other people so you can find out how to improve it, necessity is the mother of invention, you only know if something can be improved if you know there's a problem.

  • Have fun
Having fun will allow you to be in a more creative state of mind and will increase your chances of coming up with a master piece.
