Fallout like most RPG games there is technically no right or wrong way to play the game, everything is your choice. There is however a few ways you can make the game a little easier just by good character creation and here are some tips.
- Have high intelligence, having 10 intelligence will increase the amount of skills you can get which are very important; especially early on in the game.
- Think about what sort of weapon you are going to use and increase the stat related to that weapon, e.g if I wanted to make a character that uses his fists I would increase Stamina.
- Have high Lockpick and Science skills, you need these because these skills are needed very often in any Fallout game. These skills are more important than your weapon skills and need to be maxed out.
- Later on you should also get high Repair skill because you need to be able to repair equipment, getting high Repair will make you better at repairing than the shop keepers.
- Don't use situational perks such as Nerd Rage because they will be of little use most of the time.
- Don't bother increasing the Charisma score because most of the time it is pretty useless.
- Have at least 5 luck, it increases your skills slightly and increases chance of getting critical hits.
That's basically all the little tips you need for character creation, the rest is up to you.
